How to get a better answer
  • Paste the whole problem, including the instruction word — "simplify", "solve for x" and "factor" lead to three different answers.
  • Say what you have already tried. "I got x = 4 and the book says 2" turns a solution into a diagnosis.
  • Set the level in the settings button. A calculus shortcut is not a better answer if you have not met derivatives yet.
  • For a photo, get the whole problem in frame and hold the page flat — you get the transcription to fix before anything is solved.

    Get the problem in frame

    The whole question including the instruction line, page flat, in focus. One problem at a time reads far more reliably than a whole worksheet.

    Check the transcription

    What comes back is the problem as editable maths, not an answer. This is the step every other photo solver skips, and it is the one that stops a misread exponent from producing a confident answer to a different question.

    Fix anything wrong, then solve

    Correct a digit or a sign in the editor and press solve. From there it is the ordinary solver: steps, answer, and the substitution check.

Why you get to see the transcription

Handwriting recognition on maths is genuinely hard. A 7 with a bar reads as a 1, a superscript 2 near a bracket reads as a 12, a fraction bar in a photograph taken at an angle reads as a minus sign. None of these are rare.

A solver that pipes its reading straight into the solution gives you a fully worked, entirely correct answer to a problem you did not set. Nothing about the output indicates this happened — the working is internally consistent, so the only clue is that the answer feels wrong.

One extra click removes the whole failure mode. That is the entire argument for it.

Getting a clean read

Natural light beats flash, which blows out pencil. Fill the frame with the problem rather than the page. Keep the camera parallel to the paper — a photograph taken at 30 degrees turns every horizontal bar into a diagonal.

The image is resized in your browser before it is sent, so a 6MB phone photo becomes a couple of hundred kilobytes. The file itself is not stored anywhere after the reading.

Do I need an account to upload a photo?
No. Most solvers require one at exactly this point; this one does not have accounts at all.
Can it read handwriting?
Usually, if the photo is in focus and the page is flat. And because you see the transcription before it solves, a misread costs you one keystroke rather than a wrong answer.
What file types work?

Is my photo stored?
